Conditions & Procedures

Many conditions affect the urinary and reproductive system. These may include infections, cancer, structural anomalies and functional abnormalities. At Urologic Surgery of NWI we specialize in all conditions of the urologic system, giving you confidence that you are in good hands. Please learn more about many of the conditions that we treat and procedures that we offer below.

Cancer

Urologic cancers impact both men & women. These include cancers such as that of the bladder, kidney and prostate.

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition that prevents the penis from becoming or staying erect.

Groin Pain

Groin or inguinal/scrotal pain has many potential causes, often requiring detailed history, physical examination and imaging studies to determine the cause.

Hydrocele

Hydrocele refers to fluid accumulation around one or both testicles, leading to swelling of the scrotum. This is usually painless.

Hydronephrosis

Hydronephrosis refers to swelling of one or both kidneys, which may be caused by a buildup of urine due to a blockage.

Kidney Stones

Kidney stones typically form when various elements precipitate and aggregate in the urinary tract. Depending on their size and location, stones may or may not be symptomatic.

Low Testosterone

Low testosterone or hypogonadism is when the body is unable to produce enough testosterone needed for adequate bodily functions.

Vasectomy

Vasectomy is a procedure that offers men a form of permanent sterilization. The procedure involves disconnecting a tube called the vas deferens to prevent sperm that is produced in the testicle(s) from reaching the outside world.

Overactive Bladder

Overactive bladder refers to a condition that causes frequent and sudden urge to urinate, sometimes leading to incontinence or leakage of urine.

BPH / Prostate Enlargement

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate, is a condition that usually causes urinary symptoms related to increasing prostate size.

Prostatitis

Prostatitis refers to inflammation or infection of the prostate gland. This may cause urinary symptoms.

Elevated PSA

High PSA or prostate-specific antigen, can be caused by many different conditions such as urinary tract infection, enlarged prostate and prostate cancer among others.

Urethral Stricture

Urethral stricture is a narrowing of the urethra due to scar tissue formation. This can cause urinary symptoms and difficulty with urination.

Urinary Tract Infection

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) affect both men and women. They are commonly caused by bacteria entering the urinary tract.

Scrotal Swelling

Scrotal swelling is an enlargement of the scrotum, the sac that contains the testicles. Detailed evaluation is often required to determine the cause(s).

Urinary Retention

Urinary retention is a condition that prevents the urinary bladder from emptying completely. This may be acute or chronic.

Hematuria

Hematuria refers to the presence of blood or red blood cells in the urine. This condition has many possible causes.

Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence refers to urinary leakage that occurs involuntarily.

The most common conditions include cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney, ureter, testicle, kidney stones, BPH/enlarged prostate, scrotal swelling, urinary retention, erectile dysfunction, urinary tract infections, blood in the urine, elevated PSA and male sterilization (vasectomy).

What days of the week does Dr. Pinkhasov see patients in the office?

Dr. Pinkhasov sees patients in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Every patient is entitled to their medical records.

Some of the results can be found through the Athena Patient Portal.

If you’d like additional results or records not available on the Portal, please contact our office for information on how to obtain them.

To review results such as a biopsy or an imaging study, we typically prefer to see patients for an in person discussion in our office.
